Acting in Spite of My Mood: The Third Principle That Keeps Me Moving

Let me be real with you—this morning, I was not feeling it.

You know those days when the thought of putting on a bra, let alone full makeup and a decent top, feels like climbing a mountain? Yeah. That was me today. I had my coffee, I stared at my to-do list, and I just… meh.

“I Act In Spite of My Mood.”

Whew.
It sounds simple, but it’s a whole damn practice.

See, I made a commitment—to myself and to all of you—that I’d do a series going through each of these abundance principles. It was about showing up with consistency, with heart, with honesty.
And showing up doesn’t always mean feeling like it.

This morning, I didn’t feel abundant. I felt kind of blah.
But I know that “abundance” isn’t a mood.
It’s a muscle.

So instead of crawling back into bed with my book and pretending the day didn’t exist (tempting), I put on one of my favorite songs—the one that always gets my hips moving even when I’m grumpy. I danced around my bedroom like a dork. I let myself laugh. And guess what? The energy shifted.Just a little.

Enough.

Enough to sit down and start.
Enough to put on my eyeliner and open up my heart.
Enough to act, even if the mood hadn’t quite caught up yet.

That’s the thing with goals—especially the ones tied to something deeper than money or visibility. The ones tied to who you want to become.

Those goals don’t wait for your perfect mood.
They wait for your choice.

And today, I chose to honor the version of me who said yes to this project. Who said, “Let’s create something that matters. Let’s speak about abundance—not just when it feels easy, but when it feels true.

So this is me, acting in spite of my mood.
This is me, showing up a little messy, a little tender, but fully committed.

Whatever it is you’re holding off on because you’re “not in the mood,” I see you.
And I lovingly challenge you to try just five minutes.
Put on your song. Light your candle. Shake your booty. Take one breath, one step, one sentence.

And then see what happens.

Because abundance?

She loves momentum more than she loves motivation.
